Who we are

J&JL Ltd (company number 16403597) is a transport compliance consultancy run by Andy Logan from Freckleton Business Centre in Blackburn. We are a small, senior team on purpose. When you work with us, you deal with the people doing the work, not an account manager passing messages along.

Between us we have spent around 20 years in transport. The team includes:

• former transport managers who have held operational responsibility for fleets;
• FORS practitioners;
• health and safety professionals who work in the transport sector;
• qualified trainers who deliver operator training and Train the Trainer courses.

That background shapes everything we write. We know what a transport manager’s week looks like, what a DVSA examiner asks for first, and which procedures drivers will actually follow.

Why we do it this way

We have seen what goes wrong when operators get poor compliance advice. Some are sold generic documents that do not match how the business runs. Some are prepared for FORS against an out-of-date version of the Standard. Others have health and safety files that look complete but would not survive an HSE visit. In each case the operator has paid for paperwork that does not protect the business or its people.

So we work differently. We build systems from how your operation really runs. We check them against the current version of every standard and regulation, and we keep our legislation updates page current so you can see what has changed. We deliver tail lift training on your own lifts, at your site. We do not put an operator forward for a FORS audit until we are confident they will pass.

How we work

Every piece of work starts with a free consultation. We want to understand your fleet, your contracts, your current position and your deadline before we propose anything. If the answer is simple, we say so. If there is a problem, we tell you clearly before you have committed to anything.

Then we do a gap analysis against the requirements that apply to you, agree a plan and a timetable, and do the work. That covers the documents, the training, the vehicle checks and a mock audit where there is an audit to pass. We are on site when it matters, for the gap analysis, training and audit day. We handle the rest from the office, and we reply to every enquiry within one working day.

We work with fleets of every size, from one vehicle to more than 100. The level of support is set by what you need, not by what generates the most work for us.

We have supported more than 200 operators. Every operator we have prepared for FORS has passed first time. Our case studies give four anonymised examples: FORS Bronze and Silver for a construction logistics operator, a new operator’s licence granted in week 8, tail lift training for more than 60 drivers in 28 days, and ISO 9001 with GDP for a pharmaceutical carrier.

Roadworthy

Roadworthy, our fleet compliance software, handles the day-to-day tracking. Drivers do walkaround checks on their phone by scanning a QR code, and defects are reported and tracked through to repair. It keeps the inspection and maintenance calendar, and manages driver licences and Driver CPC with DVLA checks. It also analyses drivers’ hours and tachograph data through a Tachomaster integration, sends driver briefings for sign-off, keeps a weekly signed transport manager record and produces compliance packs. Based in Blackburn, working UK-wide

Our office is at Suite 14, Freckleton Business Centre, Freckleton Street, Blackburn BB2 2AL. We work on site with operators across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, the Midlands and London. We take on work anywhere else in the UK where we are a good fit for the job.
